King of Mattresses Wins the 2026 Consumer Choice Award
We have some pretty exciting news to share: King of Mattresses has been named the 2026 Consumer Choice Award winner in the Mattresses category for Vancouver!
And honestly, we're pretty proud of this one.
We spend our days helping people find a mattress they can actually look forward to sleeping on. We answer the same questions a hundred different ways, let customers take their time, explain the differences between mattresses, and sometimes watch someone test three, four, or five beds before they finally say, “Yep, this is the one.” That's the part of the job we love.
So having that commitment recognized with a Consumer Choice Award means a lot to our team.
The Consumer Choice Award has been recognizing businesses across North America since 1987, and being selected as the 2026 winner in Vancouver's Mattresses category is something we don't take lightly. It's recognition of the reputation, customer experience, and service that customers have come to expect from King of Mattresses.
But the award isn't really the part we're most excited about.
It's what the award represents.
Every customer who walks into our Vancouver store has a different idea of what makes a mattress “right.” Some want something soft and cozy. Some want a firmer feel. Some have spent years waking up sore and are determined to finally find something better. Others simply want a good night's sleep without turning mattress shopping into a three-week research project.
We've always believed that helping people find the right mattress shouldn't feel complicated or pressured. Listen to the customer, understand what they're looking for, let them try the options, and help them make a decision they're comfortable with.
Apparently, we're doing something right.
Thank you to everyone who has visited us, recommended us to a friend, left us a review, or trusted us with something as important as where you sleep every night. This award belongs to our team, but it also reflects the customers who have helped make King of Mattresses what it is today.
We're incredibly happy to be the 2026 Consumer Choice Award winner for Mattresses in Vancouver, and we're looking forward to keeping that standard high.
What the Consumer Choice Award Actually Measures
Consumer Choice Award conducts independent market research across business categories in cities across Canada and the United States. They're looking at reputation over time, not just a good month or a well-timed promotional push. They evaluate customer satisfaction patterns, how businesses respond when things go wrong, and whether the overall experience people have aligns with what the business claims to offer.
For a mattress store, that means they're looking at whether customers who came in confused left with clarity. Whether the mattress someone bought six months ago is still the right mattress for them. Whether the team gave honest guidance or just moved inventory.
For Us, It’s Never Been Just About Selling a Mattress
King of Mattresses was founded in Vancouver on a premise that sounds simple but is genuinely uncommon in mattress retail: we don't believe in selling mattresses. We believe in solving sleep.
Those two things sound similar but they're not.
Selling a mattress means showing someone the options, understanding their budget, and closing the sale. It's transactional. It works well enough when the product is simple or when the customer already knows exactly what they want.
Solving sleep is different. It means understanding that the person standing in front of you has been waking up with lower back pain for three years and has already tried two mattresses they thought would help. It means asking about their sleep position, their partner's sleep style, whether they run hot, whether they have a hip replacement or a herniated disc or a preference for the way a particular material feels. It means sometimes talking someone out of the mattress they came in wanting because it genuinely isn't the right one for their body.
That approach takes longer. It requires a team that actually knows what they're talking about at a construction level, not just at a marketing level. And it means some customers leave without buying anything on the first visit because they needed more time to think.
But it also means the people who do buy from us tend to stay customers. They come back. They send their parents in. They tell their friends who are moving into a new place on the North Shore or setting up a spare room in Coquitlam. The word-of-mouth across the Lower Mainland is what built this business, and it's what the Consumer Choice Award is recognizing.
We’re Pretty Picky About What We Sell
We could fill a showroom with mattresses and call it a day. Instead, we spend a lot of time thinking about what actually belongs in our store. Different people need different things from a mattress, so our selection is built to give customers real options without making the whole process feel like they’re choosing from a sea of nearly identical beds.
Our lineup includes organic and natural latex mattresses, premium pocket coil and hybrid constructions, adjustable bases, and custom-built mattresses designed for specific comfort and support requirements. We also carry the Marshall Mattress collection and the Aireloom line, both handcrafted with natural materials and exceptional attention to detail from the materials inside to the way each mattress is finished.
We carry these products because they perform.
Natural latex, for example, is genuinely one of the most durable, breathable, and pressure-responsive materials available in a mattress. It handles Vancouver's humidity better than dense foam alternatives. It's naturally resistant to dust mites and mold. It responds instantly to movement, which makes it better for people who shift positions through the night. These are things that matter to the specific people who walk into our store, and they're things you can only explain properly in a conversation, not on a product sticker.
Our team knows this material inside out. They know the difference between Dunlop and Talalay latex. They know which pocket coil configuration works for a heavier sleeper with a lumbar herniation. They know when a customer asking for a firm mattress actually needs a medium-firm because they've confused firmness with support. That expertise is the product as much as the mattress itself.
Hundreds of Five-Star Reviews
We have hundreds of five-star reviews across the Lower Mainland. Customers from Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, and beyond have taken the time to leave detailed feedback about their experience. That's genuinely gratifying, and it's part of what the Consumer Choice Award evaluation picked up on.
But the reviews aren't the point. They're the result.
The result of actually listening to what someone needs before recommending anything. The result of not steering a customer toward a more expensive option when a less expensive one is genuinely the better fit. The result of spending forty five minutes with someone who came in expecting to spend ten, because their situation was complicated and they deserved the full conversation.
One of the things we hear most often in our reviews is, “I didn’t feel pressured.” And honestly, that means a lot to us. We want people to feel comfortable when they walk into our store, whether they know exactly what they want or have absolutely no idea where to start. Take your time. Ask as many questions as you need. Try a few different mattresses. Sleep on the decision if you need to.
For us, a good experience isn’t about getting someone to make a decision as quickly as possible. It’s about giving them the information, space, and honest guidance they need to make a decision they feel good about. If we recommend something, it’s because we genuinely believe it makes sense for that particular person. That’s the kind of experience we’d want for our own family, and it’s the standard we try to give every customer who walks through our doors.
Thank You, Vancouver
Winning the 2026 Consumer Choice Award is something the whole team at King of Mattresses is proud of. But more than the award itself, we're proud of what it represents.
It represents every customer who came in skeptical and left confident. Every couple who finally found a mattress that worked for both of them. Every senior who got a better night's sleep because someone took the time to explain why edge support isn't just a feature, it's a safety consideration. Every person who had been managing back pain for years and finally found a surface that stopped making it worse.
Vancouver trusted us with their sleep. This award is what happens when you take that trust seriously.
If you've been putting off dealing with a mattress situation that's been bothering you, whether that's a worn out surface, a partner who sleeps completely differently from you, a medical condition that makes sleep complicated, or just the sense that your bed could be doing more for you than it currently is, come and have the conversation.
We're at 2162 Kingsway, Vancouver. The team that won this award will be there.
